About us
EMPOWERING MEN TO LIVE THEIR TRUE POTENTIAL
Why the ManKind Project exists:
Society’s expectations on men are based on power, control and invincibility, and push men away from developing social and emotional skills and vulnerability. This causes much of the dysfunctional behaviour disrupting our society.
Traditional societies understood that both women and men need the benefit and support of their own social groups. Women’s communities help girls to mature into women and the men’s communities are required to support boys to shift from their cared for, nurtured and protected mindset to that of the carer, nurturer and protector of the mature man. Women are being proactive in redefining their role for our modern society. Our work is to help men do the same, and understand their role in achieving a healthy masculine feminine balance in our world.
Many men feel that something is not working or that something is missing in their lives and want to put that right. Being clearer about who he is, and about his role in life, allows a man to live with confidence, and purpose, and create a life without fear for himself and those around him.
All genders may join this meetup group and some of our events will be open to all sexes. But our men's groups and men's training events are only open to men subject to our stance on diversity which is: We affirm that all men are welcome on our trainings and in our communities. We will not tolerate discrimination on our trainings or in our communities. We support our training and community leaders in identifying and challenging discriminatory language and behaviour. We create trainings and circles in which all men are welcome to discover their deepest truths. We welcome men of races and creeds and all sexual orientations: gay, straight, and bisexual, including those who identify as having unwanted same sex attraction, to do their own work as they define it, to respect the identity and value of others, and to take responsibility for the impact their words and behaviours have on others.
Our stance on abuse and #metoo: We define abuse as behaviour in which physical violence, emotional coercion, or improper use of authority is used to gain or maintain power, control, or sex in any relationship. We recognize the deep personal impacts and cultural damage caused by patterns of abuse. As men involved in the ManKind Project, we work to transcend abusive ways of being for men. We consciously work to end abuse in every aspect of society. We begin with ourselves. As men, we practice the values of integrity, compassion, accountability and respect. We stand up for the human needs of love and connection without abuse. To realise our vision and change the world by creating safe circles and vibrant communities, we take responsibility for ending the cycles of abuse in our families, our communities, and our world. We work to fully integrate our core values into our lives.

https://mankindprojectuki.org/connection-groups-registrationWhat is a Connection Group?
A Connection Group is an introductory men’s group. There are usually around 8 to 10 men on each call. They run on Zoom and follow a simple format of checking-in and deeper sharing.
The groups are relaxed but safe spaces for men to talk. You are welcome to join no matter who you are or where you’re from.
We are proud to welcome men of all faiths, ages, sexual orientation and ethnicities.
At each Connection Group you will find a group of men who are willing to listen to other men speak openly and honestly in a confidential space. What will I learn in a Connection Group?
We don't 'teach' anything in Connection Groups. However we do have values that underline everything we do at The ManKind Project. You can find out more about these here.
These values are what we try to encourage during the groups, and what we offer when men connect with MKP and our trainings. What will I get from attending Connection Groups?
The feedback we get from men is almost universally positive. For some, it is just connection they are seeking. For others, the groups can be life changing. Here are some of the benefits experienced by those who attend:
• A sense of connection with others
• A feeling of being less alone
• A place to be totally honest about how they are feeling, often for the first time
• The liberation of being able to share even their inner-most thoughts
• A way to discover what they are feeling, as most of the time we don’t even know
• A place to explore our life purpose and direction
• A feeling that they are taking responsibility, a sense of empowerment over their lives
• Friendship, community and support1 attendee
