What we're about

This meetup group has been created to allow the members of the main organization of the Marin Photography Club to have access to our upcoming field trips and other photography events.  The Meetup events are also accessible to the public, unless otherwise noted.

If you are interested in learning more about the Club, its Educational presentations, competitions, special interest groups, and field trips, please visit our website.

Please join and RSVP to attend any of the field trips.  Joining the Meetup group will allow you to get all the information you need regarding the event, and post photographs at end of event.

Who we are:  The Marin Photo Club Meetup was created to allow us a way of informing our members of upcoming Events, so we may plan our trips in a way which supports our members.

It is a place for us to share our event photos and our comments in a positive learning environment outside our normal scheduled competitions.

We are a group of passionate photographers interested in learning and sharing techniques, knowledge and friendship among our members. We create opportunities to extend our formal and informal portfolios, have competitions on different levels and form special interest groups to learn more about different topics of photography.

MONOCHROME- Sept/Oct Meetup Challenge

Needs a location

Hi, there, photo friends! Time for a new Challenge! *** MONOCHROME! ***

FIRST OF ALL, we're moving BACK to Meetup.com. You'll upload your entries on this website. Details and link below.

Here are the details:

Your photograph must be taken between the dates of September 15 and October 31, 2022 and must be a monochrome image.

MONOCHROME: Black and White and all the subtle shades of gray
What can you do without the distraction of color? Shooting in monochrome is about light, tone, and form. Monochrome images use tonal contrast to tell a story drawing attention to the light and arrangement of lines, shapes, and textures within the frame. A monochrome photo strips an image down to the real basics.
Let’s see how creative you can get. Grab your camera or phone, get those creative juices flowing and express yourself. Good luck!

As you upload and caption your image, let us know WHEN and WHERE you took the picture. Photographs for this challenge must be taken during the challenge period. (The winner may be asked to submit the original out-of-camera file.)

  • THE IMAGE FLOW, our great MPC sponsor in San Anselmo, will print an image of your choice on high quality archival paper, suitable for framing. https://theimageflow.com/
  • Your image will also appear on the Meetup home page for the Marin Photo Club Meetup Group
