What we’re about
We’re a bunch of guys and girls that play social soccer in Marrickville, every Saturday morning at 8:30am. We’re mostly in our 30s and 40s and play at a reasonable level (not ideal for anyone new to the game). We have a good mix of different personalities and we have a strong focus on keeping the game fair and fun.
Things we like:
Good banter, fun people, slick skills and a love of soccer
Things we don't like:
Dangerous tackles, aggressive behavior and super competitiveness.
The Details:
- The game is played in the outdoor soccer cages at Fraser Park. There is no referee and the field is astroturf. Either normal studs or astroturf boots are best, but some play in normal sneakers. There is free parking on site.
- We only play if we have a minimum of 10 players confirmed by 12pm Friday. We cap it at 16. If we have less than 10 by Friday midday and it is cancelled, refunds will be given.
- To confirm, payment is upfront. Cost is $10, which covers field hire, gear and admin.
- If you confirm and need to pull out, the $10 is forfeited unless you can find a replacement player. If you are sick, get in touch and a refund will be organised.
- We aim to KO at 8:30am, please arrive early to gear up and warm up.
- Shin pads are optional, but we all play at our own risk. Any colour jerseys are fine as we hand out coloured bibs on the day.
- There is a meetup app that makes confirming and payment a simple event.
- These are all weather pitches so we play if it rains. It is important that we all show up on these rainy days as there is nothing worse than turning up on a miserable day and being short on numbers.
This is social soccer and not to be played too competitively. We all have jobs to go to and families to look after, so we have a strong focus on trying to remain injury free. That being said, we all play at our own risk if injury should occur.
This is predominantly an invite only group, but we open the doors to everyone from time to time.
