What we’re about
Become "Marseille-friendly" and meet local French and Expats for conversation and fun! Meet english speakers and newcomers who want to speak french and english in a nice group, and discover this city. Marseille based group for french and english speakers of all ages and nationalities. We'll have regular events to meet- up and share interests whilst having a good time. Some events can be in Aix or even on Côte d'Azur locations. We ll' try to make our events bi-monthly. I am eager to listen to your own ideas about future events ! See you soon. Please submit a first name and photo. It will help our members to identify you at future events.
This group is now run on a cooptation basis, therefore if you want to become a member you have to answer first to a few easy questions about you, and then join us in one of our get-togethers.

See all- Picnic and jazz at the Villa BagatelleVilla Bagatelle, Marseille 13008
Every Summer, the Mairie of the 6th and 8th districts has three days of evening concerts and dance performances in the gardens of the Villa Bagatelle. The jazz concert at the Villa Bagatelle is a fun opportunity to have a picnic together, listen to some live music and enjoy one of the green spaces in the Prado area 🙂
This year, there is a free jazz concert by the French saxophonist Samy Thiébault, titled "In Waves" ("inspired by the surf and the ocean", according to the publicity department). More information is at: https://mairie-marseille6-8.fr/agenda/mab-2025-30-ans-de-musique-a-bagatelle-un-anniversaire-exceptionnel/
The gardens are large and green, but the seats in front of the stage fill up quickly. We normally make a group on the hill on the road side of the gardens (on the right when you look at the stage). I expect about 20-30 people, so there should be a great atmosphere 😀 Bring your own food and something to drink - but no glass bottles, please, there are security checks at the entrances!
The concert starts at 9pm, but I recommend coming earlier, so we can enjoy our picnic and the gardens - the space fills up quickly, and it's hard to save places! I also recommend that you bring a cushion - the concert finishes late, and the ground can get hard!
Of course, it's an open-air event, so everything depends on the weather. It should be a beautiful evening with no rain - fingers crossed! 🤞🤞🤞
