INTRO to TAI CHI

INTRO TO TAI CHI
This class is for people who've never taken a Tai Chi class, experienced Tai Chi practitioners (to see a unique view of Tai Chi), people with no experience in any of the martial arts, or black belts from other styles. In other words, this class is fine for all.
Most Tai Chi classes jump in and teach the form, where the students have no foundation. In today's class, we'll build a foundation by teaching the basics, how to turn, how to use the whole body instead of one limb, and how to flow with your movements.
Beginners will leave the class knowing a simple but flowing and fun movement that you can do at home or in a park. Advanced martial artists will gain insight into their own style.
We will do solo movements that you do with just yourself, and then we'll partner up where the only contact you make with your partner is your hands, and you'll begin to learn how to read their energy, and use that energy to "push" them.
We'll also introduce Tai Chi sword strikes, which is a lot of fun. Most of you won't have a sword so you'll use one of our padded bats.
Thrown in for free are simple self-defense skills, like how to get out of a choke hold, a shoulder grab, a push, etc. You can find these movements in the Tai Chi form.
This class is only $5. You pay and register at the front desk. Tell them you're signing up for the MARTIAL ART class.
After class, I work with my advanced Tai Chi students.
If you decide you're serious about learning Tai Chi, I also offer private lessons at a day and time that works for you.
