Potluck at the Farm
Details
This is an annual event for us. Visiting Maynard's Pony Meadows makes you feel as though you have left Vancouver, but it is a real farm right here in the city, in Southlands.
You are welcome to visit the rescued goats, and other barnyard animals such as the many horses, chickens, ducks, and the Vietnamese potbellied pigs.
This event is really not to be missed!
If it rains, the event will be postponed to Sunday.
Bring a chair or a blanket to sit on because the grass tends to be long so you won't be as comfortable sitting on the grass as you would at the park.
We ask that you bring your own plate and utensils and water bottle. There is no where to wash dishes so please bring a bag to take your dirty things home in.
Food wise, just make sure your dish has no animal products in it so everyone from omnivore to vegan can partake. People appreciate it if you bring an ingredient list so they know what's in your dish in case of allergies. Try to bring enough so several people can take a scoop of your food to try it. Don't forget the serving spoon.
Some people are less versed in preparing plant based dishes. Fruit salad is always an easy very welcome addition as is store bought vegan deli food from places like Choices or Whole Foods. Bringing nothing or just some chips or uncut bananas or oranges, however, is not acceptable, as it results in complaints to the organizers. So, buy something or prepare something please, if you want to join in.
And, as always, you don't need to know someone who is coming in order to comfortably attend. There's lots to see and do at the farm and many people to talk to.
