Volunteer Work Day + Vegan Potluck at The Happy Herd Farm Sanctuary

Join us for a beautiful Summer day in helping the animals at The Happy Herd Sanctuary in Aldergrove!

The Happy Herd is a farmed animal sanctuary for animals either abused or at risk, owned by Sanctuary founders Diane and Stephen. On 4 wonderful acres, you can find the many rescued animals roaming freely. They have goats, sheep, chickens, cows, pigs, turkeys, ducks, cats, a dog, and a wonderful friendly donkey named Baby!

We will start the day with a tour/orientation of the sanctuary.

Join us in helping out with important tasks and getting ready for summer at the sanctuary, all the while getting to know the Happy Herd residents, as well as some fellow animal lovers!

Some tips for volunteering at the Sanctuary:

• Be sure to wear farm appropriate attire: boots or rubber boots, clothing that can get dirty, gloves & a mask if you’re sensitive to dust when cleaning stalls.
• There is a volunteer room where you can leave items & a bathroom at the back of the property, next to the donkey and cow areas, beside the feed room.
• Be sure to ask Diane what you can feed and how much.

There will also be lots of time to visit with the animals and take photos.

Drivers are definitely needed to get out to the sanctuary, so please post if you have a vehicle, if you are willing to drive others, and what city/part of the city you are in (passengers pitching on gas is definitely welcomed and a kind gesture!)

We will enjoy a vegan potluck to celebrate after our hard work! Please bring a plant-based dish to share, with no animal products, including dairy, honey or gelatin. Please bring your own cutlery, plates and a drinking cup.

Volunteers must be 16 years and older.
