What we’re about
Meet like-minded people interested in meditation in the Denver area! Learn how to meditate or deepen your current meditation practice. In this group we emphasize practical meditations that are useful both "on the cushion" and in our daily lives. Each meeting will include guided meditation, and a talk on how to reduce stress and other problems encountered in daily life, while increasing mental and physical well-being. There will also be plenty of time to discuss the ideas presented. Although the meditations and talks are based on Kadampa Buddhist philosophy, you don't need to be a Buddhist to enjoy this group. Kadampa Buddhism stresses a spiritual path of individual transformation and to look within ourselves for the inner peace and happiness we seek. Everyone is welcome

About the fundraiser
Kadampa Meditation Center Colorado will be hosting a pizza party fundraiser to raise funds to install the beautiful Vajra, Dharma Wheel, and Deers—which were recently delivered from the Kadampa Art Studio in England—on the roof of our newly renovated city temple. We will hold the fundraiser in a lovely backyard garden and serve homemade sourdough pizza—cooked in a 900 degree pizza oven—as well as mocktails and dessert.*gluten free and vegan options available (please note dietary restrictions upon registration). Please be aware that the gluten free pizzas will be cooked in an oven with cross contamination and will not be suitable for persons with celiac.
The Meaning of the Deers, Dharma Wheel & the Five-Pronged Vajra
The Vajra, Dharma Wheel, and Deers are auspicious symbols and holy objects in Buddhism. The Dharma Wheel appears above the door of traditional Kadampa Temples between a male and female deer. These symbolize the stages of the path of Highest Yoga Tantra.
The eight auspicious signs symbolize in general how to progress along the Buddhist path. The Dharma Wheel, deer, and top vajra teach you the stages of the path of Highest Yoga Tantra. The male deer symbolizes the realization of great bliss. The female deer symbolizes the realization of emptiness. The Wheel of Dharma symbolizes the union of these two.
