How to meditate (Beyond the Breath)

Details

Breathing meditation is the most popular and straightforward meditation practice around. It is marketed as an antidote to everything from anxiety and depression to poor sleep and workplace inefficiency. These are tangible benefits into which it is worth investing time and energy. It is also the basis of many other forms of meditation but is there more to meditation than just focusing on the breath? This is only the tip of the iceberg. There is a great deal more to meditation than just focusing on the breath.

If you learn simple breathing meditation, you will find that you are more peaceful and relaxed. This is an important start, and when our mind is calm we can begin to develop on-going peaceful and positive states of mind.

Meditation is not difficult to do, and everyone can learn to become a happier and kinder person through doing it. During this free public talk, learn not only how to get started with breathing meditation, but also how to make yourself and others happy throughout your life.

" Without inner peace here is no real happiness at all. Problems, suffering, and unhappiness do not exist outside the mind; they are feelings and thus part of our mind. Therefore, it is only by controlling our mind that we can permanently stop our problems and make ourself and others truly happy." - Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso
