Buddhism is learning to live from a peaceful mind and a good heart as the best way to solve our own inner problems of anxiety, depression, fear, etc.; finding a deepening sense of happiness and freedom from within; and in time helping and inspiring others to do the same.
In this afternoon of talks and meditations we will learn to practice meditation, understand core Buddhist concepts of Karma, Death, Rebirth & Impermanence. We’ll also explore the meaning of the teaching on the Four Noble Truths and the Mahayana Paths of Universal Love, Compassion and Bodhichitta. As well as the Ultimate and finally liberating teaching of Buddha, that our entire reality is an illusion, that it is empty of inherent existence.
This short course will enrich your practice as well as providing a wonderful insight into how Buddhist Teachings fit together and are practiced in everyday life to help us connect to reality and a deep sense of meaning and purpose.
Gen Chitta, who ordained as a Buddhist Nun in 2009 and has been studying and practicing Buddhism since 2002 under the guidance of Kadampa Buddhist Master Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, is able to transmit these profound ideas and practices in a way that makes them feel clear, simple and practical.
Everyone is welcome, beginners and experienced meditators alike. No special clothes are required and seating is provided in chairs and meditation cushions. There is free on-street parking on the street just outside, we are just minutes from the Westlink Divis St/ Millfield exit, and we are just 15 min walk from City Hall and the Central Station.

We’ve probably all heard the term ‘keep your friends close and your enemies closer’. Over the course of our lives we, consciously and subconsciously, label those around us; friends, enemies, strangers, which in turn affects how we treat others and our day to day experiences. We tend to treat one group with kindness and love, the next with anger and resentment and the latter with neutrality or disregard..but what if we removed these labels and treated everyone as friends? It might seem impossible at first, or maybe even unnecessary…
In this half day course, guided by Buddhist Teacher Rebecca Dempsey, we’ll explore why this is both very possible and necessary. On the face of it, we don’t see the connection between how we treat others and the quality of our day to day experiences, or our own happiness. Through ditching these labels and discovering Buddhist perspectives on karma, cherishing others and developing a good heart, we can see how improving our relationships with others is a key aspect of a peaceful mind and a happier life.
Everyone is welcome. The retreat is suitable to those new to meditation as well as experienced practitioners. No special clothes are required and seating is provided in chairs and meditation cushions.
There is free on street parking on Peters Hill just outside, with easy access from Westlink Divis St/ Millfield exit, and we are just 15 min walk from City Hall and Belfast Grand Central Station.
