About us
The Kosala Mahayana Buddhist Center provides authentic Buddhist instruction, including calming and illuminating meditation practices and coherent philosophical and spiritual teachings with lively discussions. This tradition comes out of Tibet and now has teachers and centers around the globe. The Kosala Center opened in Carrboro in 2006.
We charge $10-$12 for classes to cover rent and expenses, but no one is turned away for lack of funds. Come enjoy our beautiful meditation space, free tea, and many books.

Overcoming Anger Meditation Retreat
Kosala Kadampa Buddhist Center, 101 Cosgrove Avenue, Suite 142, Chapel Hill, NC, USMost of us tend to think that our problems are coming at us from outside of our mind - from other people, from situations, or even from our own intrinsic shortcomings. Buddhist teachings, however, show that all our problems actually arise from our habitual ways of responding to things. If we can learn to respond to challenging situations with peaceful states of mind, gradually we will have fewer and fewer problems.
This mini meditation retreat will share timeless methods to let go of anger, irritation, and resentment and cultivate positive and peaceful responses to life’s challenges.

Sunday Morning Meditation
Kosala Kadampa Buddhist Center, 101 Cosgrove Avenue, Suite 142, Chapel Hill, NC, USPrayers for Peace: New Eight Steps to Happiness
Our mind has the power to make good things happen in our own personal life and in the world at large. The key is to establish, in our own mind, the causes of the world we want to see, by developing a heart that cherishes everyone.
This course provides training in step-by-step methods to powerful change. We also engage in group prayers during the class to combine and amplify our intention toward world peace and happiness.
