Chat, Write & Swap Snail Mail [Christmas edition]
Details
Hi everyone! Welcome to our first event, themed "SERENDIPITY".
Oxford dictionary defines serendipity as "the occurrence and development of events by chance in a happy or beneficial way." It’s your chance to connect meaningfully, both in person and via a handwritten note.
Who should attend:
- Anyone looking for meaningful, authentic conversation.
- Anyone who enjoys the art of hand-written communication.
- Stationery fans - cute, Christmas-themed illustrated cards and stickers will be provided!
- You do not need to be a letter-writing expert to join! We will only be writing shorter letters/cards at this event.
How it work works:
We'll grab a coffee and have a quick "icebreaker" creative writing exercise. (It will be fun and easy)
Then, we’ll chat a bit about serendipity and our experiences with it.
Inspired by the conversation, we’ll spend some time writing our snail mail. There’ll be prompts and guidance provided. You may include a quote, a doodle; a meaningful memory; a poem.. whatever you like!
Once you're done, seal your mail in the envelopes provided and leave them with me. Envelopes will be addressed at random, ensuring that each person will receive mail from someone else in the group in a completely serendipitous way. I will drop all your envelopes at the post office immediately after the meetup, so you can expect to receive your mail within 2-3 working days.

FAQ (please read before attending)
Do I need to bring anything?
All letter-writing (cards/papers, pens, stickers and washi tapes for decoration) and postage materials (envelopes and stamps) are provided. You may wish to bring your own writing materials like pens, markers, etc.
How will you address and mail the letters after the event?
We randomly "mix and match" your letters to ensure that every participant will receive a letter from someone else. You will essentially be writing your letter without knowing who exactly from the group will end up receiving it. All letters will be mailed out immediately after the event. You may expect 2-3 working days to receive your mail.
Will my address be revealed to other participants?
Your address will be kept strictly confidential. There is no need for you to personally exchange addresses with any other participants unless you wish to do so yourself, in which case you will take full responsibility.
What if I want to continue corresponding with my sender (the person whose card/letter I receive)?
You may reach out to us and we will forward your request to your sender. If they consent, we will forward their contact details to you, so that you may correspond with each other on your own terms. You may wish to exchange personal contact details by including them in your letter or sharing them in person at the meetup at your own risk and responsibility.
