Recharge Eindhoven: working together on solutions for grid congestion
On 3 and 4 October 2026, Eindhoven City Council is organising the Recharge Eindhoven hackathon at the High Tech Campus. Students, researchers, businesses, public authorities and residents will come together there to pool their knowledge and creativity in order to develop new solutions for grid congestion, one of the greatest challenges to the further growth and sustainability of the Brainport region.

A growing challenge for Eindhoven
Demand for electricity is rising rapidly due to housing construction, economic growth and the energy transition. At the same time, the electricity grid is increasingly reaching its limits. Grid congestion can have consequences for new developments in the region and calls for smart, innovative solutions.

Brainpower from across the region
At Recharge Eindhoven, people from diverse backgrounds work together, including scientists, artists, engineers, students and other inquisitive thinkers. It is precisely these unexpected encounters and collaborations that often spark new ideas and insights. This involves not only technical innovations, but also new forms of collaboration, digitalisation, energy storage and smarter use of available grid capacity.
