Details

About the course:

I’m excited to announce our first 6-week Foundations of Mindfulness course! :) Fill out your pre-registration here.

In a world that is getting increasingly busier, mindfulness is one of the greatest skills you can build. It is an antidote to burnout, our frenetic workplace and the ups and downs of life.

Most of us rarely make meditation into a habit. It’s too hard, we don’t have enough time, and we’re not sure if we’re doing it right.

In this in-person course, you will get hands-on guidance from a certified Mindfulness teacher with a decade of experience, as well as the accountability of a group setting.

A foundation in mindfulness can reduce stress, boost creativity and increase your overall happiness. It’s well-established that even just a few weeks of training can start to have a noticeable impact.

Mindfulness is so much more than just feeling calm or relaxed. It is a way to understand one of your most important tools – your mind – and how it operates. It’s a meta-skill that you can take with you into the rest of your life.

What you’ll learn in these 6 weeks:

🧘‍♂️ Foundations of mindfulness - breath, body, and emotions
🧠 Neuroscience behind mindfulness
🌬️ Role of your nervous system to reduce stress and boost meditation
❤️Increasing kindness and compassion
🕺 Mindful movement for relaxation
👥 Accountability partner (assigned on day 1)
🎯 Tailored meditation plan and guidance
📚 In-depth reading and video material from mindfulness, psychology, and neuroscience experts

* This is a secular mindfulness. There will be reference to some concepts from Buddhism but the course is grounded in modern psychology and neuroscience.

*If you have PTSD or have been diagnosed with another mental disorder please talk to me before joining. Some of the practices can be triggering but we can tailor them and make them accessible for you.

About your teacher: Misha Yurchenko is a Tokyo-based certified meditation teacher (MMTCP with Jack Korfnfield and Tara Brach) with over ten years of meditation experience. He has spent time on retreat around the world and practiced a range of techniques. Today his main practice is samatha-vipassana and the Bramaviharas in the Theravada Buddhist tradition. After experiencing extreme burnout from his venture-funded startup, he founded Tokyo Mindfulness and is dedicated to helping others break free from themselves. He takes an integrated (and practical) approach combining meditation, breathwork, and nervous system healing to help people let go of the ego, release old habit patterns and find inner freedom. He is the author of several books and lives in Shibuya with his family.
