Traditional Tea Ceremony (Sadō) & Guided Meditation – First Morning Session

The tea ceremony, or Sadō (茶道), has been closely intertwined with Japanese culture and Buddhism for centuries, and we are very excited to host a traditional tea ceremony combined with a guided meditation session.

Mindfully engaging in the act of drinking tea can enhance the experience of the present moment, allowing us to fully appreciate the smells, sounds, and tastes that bring us back to the here and now.

The session will begin with a guided mindfulness meditation focusing on the body and breath. This will gently transition into the sensations associated with tea preparation, led by The Tea Ladies, a group of three women from Omotesenke, Enshuryu, Edosenke Tea Ceremony Schools. The experience will gently transition to the enjoyment of traditional sweets and matcha tea.

Sometimes, taking the time to do things slowly can bring out the richness of the moment-to-moment experience.
