Exploring the fun and creativity of the Maitland Riverlights Festival

Join me to discover the creativity and cultural diversity of the Maitland Riverlights Festival. Together with new and old friends we’ll explore this vibrant festival and its celebration of food, music, dance and art making that stretches along the Levee Central and the Riverwalk in the heart of Maitland.

The festival brings together people from up to 50 different nations to share and celebrate their cultural heritage. We’ll have the opportunity to experience the array of traditional performing arts, as well as enjoying food tastings and the lantern making fun. We’ll also have time to appreciate the exciting program of live music performances at the main stage surrounded by a myriad of colourful lanterns and banners.

There’ll be time to enjoy conversation at the Lavender Café overlooking the river and relax with a coffee and something to eat. Then the highlight of the evening’s entertainment will be the Lantern Parade, and seeing the magic of hundreds of lantern lights adrift on the Coquun-Hunter River.

This is a family friendly event. We’ll go ahead whether it’s fine or raining.

Entry to the festival is free.

I’ll meet you at 6pm at the Riverlink Building on the Levee Central side.

We’ll set out at 6.15pm and go through the Riverlink and turn onto the Riverwalk. We’ll make our way past the many stalls towards the Riverside Carpark and the main stage area where we can enjoy the diversity of stage performances.

On the return walk we’ll stop at the Lavender Café to relax, socialise with friends and enjoy something to eat and drink.

We’ll then find a good vantage point on the riverbank for viewing the Lantern Parade that begins at 8pm.
