Join me for a clifftop walk together along this stunning section of the Bathers Way, from Shepherds Hill Cottage to Bar Beach. We'll go via Strzelecki Lookout where we might see the colourful hang gliders in flight, and then stroll along the Memorial Walkway known for its rich cultural and natural heritage.

We’ll have time at Shepherds Hill to explore the historic headland fort that once protected the city. A short easy walk south we'll be on the impressive Walkway, built to commemorate both steelmaking in Newcastle and the ANZAC landing at Gallipoli. The breathtaking 360-degree views of ocean cliffs, rock platforms, the wider city and harbour make it an ideal vantage point for photography.

At Bar Beach we’ll have time to socialise with new and old friends, and relax with a coffee at Swell Café overlooking the water. We’ll then make our return along the Memorial Drive footpath.

This is a family friendly event. Dogs are not permitted on the Walkway.

Agenda
I'll meet you at Shepherds Hill near the Cottage at 9.00am. We’ll take time to enjoy the views and explore the historic gun emplacements and at 9.15am head off along Cliff Street to Strzelecki Lookout.

From there we’ll follow the Memorial Walkway along the cliff line, and then descend the stepped section to Memorial Drive and pause at the pretty viewing area overlooking Bar Beach.

At the beach we'll have time for a relaxed chat with new and old friends and to enjoy a coffee and snack from Swell’s Café next to the Surf Club.

We’ll return along the Memorial Drive footpath to Shepherds Hill. The distance each way is 1.3km and includes a 200m downhill section with steps. The remainder is flat or steady sloping pathway.

We’ll go ahead whether it's sunny or raining.

When you RSVP please click attend on the Event Page and I will be in touch via direct message. I will also be available in the Event Comments on the day.
