Nobbys Lighthouse Arts | Heritage Walk, Meet the Artist Event & Coffee
Details
Join me for a leisurely walk together to Nobbys Lighthouse to enjoy a collective exhibition by Newcastle Printmakers, and join in their Meet the Artist event. On the way we’ll be able to explore some of the intriguing colonial heritage of Newcastle harbour and take in the stunning scenery along the breakwater to the lighthouse.
At Nobbys is an ideal opportunity for landscape photography with the pepper-pot lighthouse surrounded by magnificent views of the city, beaches and harbour. Inside the former light-keepers cottage we’ll have time to appreciate the diversity of works on exhibition and chat with the artists about the people who have inspired and influenced their practice.
On the return we’ll finish at 2300 Café to relax with new and old friends and enjoy a coffee together.
Agenda
I’ll meet you at 10.30AM next to the fountain in front of Customs House.
We’ll set off at 10.40AM across the Foreshore Park, past the historic Boat Harbour and follow the Macquarie Pier breakwater along and up the short access road to Nobbys Lighthouse.
There’ll be time to enjoy the vistas of harbour and city, explore around the heritage buildings and take photographs. Inside the main cottage we’ll be able to explore the exhibition and chat with the artists.
We’ll return through the Newcastle East heritage area to 2300 Café in Scott Street where we’ll have time to socialise and enjoy a coffee together.
Overall the walk is about 3km on easy going paved surfaces with a short 250m uphill section to the Lighthouse.
We’ll go ahead whether its sunny or raining. This is a dog friendly event.
