Brantwyn Estate was originally a du Pont family residence named Bois-Des-Fosses and a 28,000-square-foot Georgian Revival mansion built for Pierre S. du Pont III. After Pierre's death in 1988, the land was acquired by the DuPont Company in 1991 and refurbished into a venue for conferences and weddings, eventually being renamed Brantwyn.
