Bradley Observatory - Agnes Scott "Lecture"
Details
This is free.
I plan to go to Agnes Scott Bradley Observatory for a talk tomorrow night (Friday). They give these talks once a month, and *I* find many of them fascinating.
*This* talk is by Professor Hodari-Sadiki Hubbard-James, who's giving a presentation entitled, "Are We Alone? Astronomy and Astrobiology in the ISLANDS Lab".

Here's what Bradley Observatory writes about it:
"The ISLANDS Lab (Interstellar Search for Life Around Nearby Dwarf Stars) at Agnes Scott has spent three years exploring that question from three directions. We survey hundreds of nearby stars smaller and cooler than the Sun, seeking the calm, stable ones where a planet could retain its atmosphere. We grow plants in the lab under simulated starlight to test how photosynthesis functions when the star is NOT the Sun. We are also re-examining the 1977 Wow! Signal, which remains the most powerful unexplained candidate for an extraterrestrial radio transmission ever detected. Dr. Hodari-Sadiki Hubbard-James will walk through all three, including the work Agnes Scott students have contributed to each."
