Don't Wear a Red Shirt Ride!
Details
Let's go to a famous and often used movie and television shooting site: Vasquez Rocks! Made famous by the original Star Trek series that shot several episodes there in the 60's, Vasquez rocks was named after notorious 1870s bandit Tiburcio Vasquez, who used the rocks to hide and escape capture. The rocks are featured in a number of western films as well including "Blazing Saddles". But the other worldly look of the feature has remained popular with science fiction films and TV. Follow the link for a piece of classic 60's Star Trek action of Captain Kirk fighting :The Gorn". Listen to the gorn at 1:11-1:13, I think it sounds like Dan! Maybe you did a cameo back in the late 60's? :)

For those old time Star Trek fans, you'll know that the crew member (that you've never seen before) wearing a red shirt is going to be the one that dies on that episode - so don't wear a red shirt on this ride, or "The Gorn" might get you!
Plan on a full day ride, the 15 freeway up to Cajon junction, then up the 138 through the mountains and over to Vasquez Rocks. We will have lunch in the area, spend some time checking things out, then return.
Please arrive with a full tank, we will be making fuel/rest stops at around 100 miles. This is a great time to do a good tire check, not only for pressure, but tread depth and wear patterns. I don't know the weather yet but these "winter" SoCal rides usually require layers, so plan for that. Don't forget water and maybe a snack.
This is a fun ride so don't miss it!
