AXIØM is a community for people who want to seriously explore the deepest questions about reality, consciousness, intelligence, ethics, meaning, and humanity’s future—together, in the real world.

The name comes from the idea of an axiom: a foundational principle from which reasoning begins. But AXIØM is not a community built around unquestionable assumptions. Quite the opposite.

We are interested in examining our foundations.

The Ø represents the unknown at the center of that search: the limits of knowledge, the unanswered question, the singularity, the black hole beyond whose horizon our current understanding may fail.

AXIØM exists for people willing to approach that unknown with curiosity rather than certainty.

Our conversations may move across artificial intelligence, consciousness, neuroscience, philosophy, physics, mathematics, existential questions, ethics, futurism, technology, spirituality, art, cinema, civilization, deep time, and the future of conscious life.

You do not need to be an expert.

You need curiosity.

You need intellectual honesty.

And you need to be willing to discover that something you believe may be wrong.

## What we do

Our gatherings may include:

• First-principles discussions of fundamental questions
• Book and research-paper conversations
• Talks from researchers, thinkers, artists, and builders
• Philosophical and science-fiction film nights
• Museum, observatory, university, and cultural outings
• Discussions of existential risk and humanity’s long-term future
• Conversations about morality, meaning, beauty, wisdom, and human flourishing
• Small study groups and collaborative projects
• Informal conversations over coffee, dinner, or drinks

Some events will be technical.

Some will be philosophical.

Some will be existential.

Some may begin with a scientific paper and end with a question humanity has been asking for thousands of years.

## The culture

AXIØM is not an ideological organization, political tribe, spiritual movement, or professional networking club.

We care more about whether an idea is true than whether it belongs to our preferred worldview.

We value:

Truth-seeking over belief-protection.

Questions over dogma.

Evidence over confidence.

First principles over inherited assumptions.

Intellectual humility over intellectual performance.

Wisdom alongside intelligence.

Compassion alongside capability.

Constructive disagreement over consensus for its own sake.

Scientific materialists, religious thinkers, agnostics, engineers, philosophers, artists, researchers, students, futurists, skeptics, and people who simply find existence profoundly strange are welcome.

You should be comfortable saying:

"I don't know."

"Why do we believe that?"

"What evidence would change my mind?"

"What assumptions are we making?"

"I disagree."

"What if we're looking at this completely wrong?"

And occasionally:

"That's one of the most interesting ideas I've ever encountered."

## The deeper question

AXIØM ultimately revolves around three questions:

What is true?

What is valuable?

What should intelligence become?

Our deeper ambition is to understand consciousness and the universe more deeply, cultivate the wisdom required to use intelligence well, and think seriously about the flourishing of conscious life across humanity’s long-term future.

We may never answer humanity’s biggest questions.

But they seem worth gathering around.
