About us

Welcome to salsa 101

I’m not a professional salsa dancer or instructor — just someone who fell in love with salsa about three years ago and has spent the time since learning, taking classes at different studios, social dancing, and figuring out what works (and what doesn’t!) along the way.

More recently, several of my friends have started their own salsa journeys, and watching them learn reminded me just how challenging the beginning can be. Sometimes classes move quickly, combinations get complicated before the fundamentals really click, or concepts like musicality and styling are introduced while you’re still trying to figure out where your feet are supposed to go!

The idea here is simple: create a friendly, low-pressure space where beginners can slow things down and get the basics down first. We’ll focus on understanding the fundamental mechanics of salsa — basic steps, timing, weight transfer, turns, simple partnerwork, and repetition — so that you can build a foundation that makes regular salsa classes and socials feel much less intimidating.

This isn’t about complicated combinations or trying to look impressive. It’s about practicing, asking questions, making mistakes, meeting other beginners, and getting comfortable with the fundamentals at your own pace.

If you’ve always wanted to try salsa but felt intimidated, recently started taking classes and feel a little lost, or simply want more time to practice the basics — Salsa 101 is for you.

No experience necessary. No judgment. Two left feet are welcome. 😊

Come learn, practice, meet people, and hopefully fall in love with salsa along the way. ❤️
