Free intro to mindfulness meditation
Details
We usually begin by stabilizing attention. It's pretty hard to be mindful when your attention is really scattered. To help us practice steadying the mind and building concentration power, we anchor our experience in the breath as a simple way to come into the present.
It is not about trying to get rid of anything – our mind will naturally produce thoughts and feelings will naturally arise. It is about creating a space and nurturing it each time we meditate, so that slowly and gradually over time, this space of quiet and peace develops more and more. It becomes a place where we can rest and reflect on things in a clearer, more meaningful way.
