Edge of Life: Film Screening, Yawanawá Q&A & Traditional Song
S Leonards Church, London Road, St Leonards, GBEdge of Life Film Screening: We’ll begin with an intimate screening of Edge of Life, a powerful film exploring psychedelic-assisted therapy and end-of-life care. Following filmmaker Lynette Wallworth, the film moves between a pioneering clinical trial using psilocybin with people approaching the end of life and the Yawanawá of the Brazilian Amazon, opening up profound questions about death, healing and what it means to live when a cure is no longer possible.

Live Yawanawá Conversation & Q&A: What makes this screening particularly special is that the conversation won’t end when the credits roll. Yawa Tume and Mew of the Yawanawá are travelling from the Brazilian Amazon to join us in person. We’ll hear directly from them, explore some of the questions raised by the film and open up the conversation for audience Q&A.
Traditional Yawanawá Songs: We’ll close the evening by coming together through traditional songs shared by Yawa Tume and Mew. A chance to move beyond talking and thinking, and experience another part of Yawanawá culture together in the room.
Exchange & Reciprocity: As psychedelics move further into the mainstream, it feels increasingly important that we don’t lose sight of cultures that have held relationships with these medicines for generations. This evening is an opportunity to listen and learn directly, while also thinking about what meaningful exchange and reciprocity can look like.
A Welcoming Psychedelic Community: You don’t need any previous experience with psychedelics or the Psychedelic Society to join us. Whether you’re interested in psychedelic-assisted therapy, end-of-life care, Indigenous perspectives, consciousness and healing, or simply curious about the questions the film raises, you’re very welcome.
