Details

Weather permitting we are going to bike the Westmoreland Heritage Trail from Saltsburg to Delmont. The trail is well maintained, 19 miles round trip, and very scenic. In May the wildflowers are spectacular.
There are viaducts, a tunnel, and bridges. The trail surface is crushed limestone and paved in spots. It follows the Conemaugh River and Loyalhanna Creek. When we get to Delmont we will feel the burn and know we have done something good for our bodies. There is also an optional 7 mile extension on the West Penn Trail along the kiskiminetas River which would make our day a 26 mile hike. Helmets are recommended.
We will not be in a race to get to the finish line; we will be looking to have fun biking the trail. You can ride at your own pace because we will always “Meetup” along the trail. Nobody is ever left behind. Some ride leisurely and others more aggressive, but we will not be competing. Our goal is to meet new friends, see nature at its finest, get lots of great exercise, and maybe a tasty lunch too. Join us and put some fun into your life.
If you would like to have lunch afterwards please make a recommendation.
There are two parking lots on Water St, one by the BP station, and another further down the street.
