Details
Please join us on Thursday, June 19th, for a special evening of great food and entertainment. You'll see a pair of classic mystery films, featuring two of the most iconic characters in the history of detective fiction.
Up first (at 6:00 PM) we'll show the 1934 Fox mystery film, CHARLIE CHAN IN LONDON, which starred Warner Oland, Drue Leyton, Ray Milland and Mona Barrie. The film was directed by Eugene Forde and based on characters created by Earl Derr Biggers.
A young woman asks for Charlie's help in proving her brother's innocence -- as the brother awaits execution on death row.
Next Up, at approximately 7:40 is the classic 1944 Universal mystery / horror film, THE SPIDER WOMAN, which starred Basil Rathbone, Nigel Bruce, Gale Sondergaard and Dennis Hoey. The film was directed by Roy William Neill and was based on the Sherlock Holmes characters created by Arthur Conan Doyle.
Holmes and Watson face off against a femme fatale, as they investigate a series of murders that are disguised as suicides.
The restaurant is called; the CITY BUFFET.
There is a private room at the back of the restaurant, so we won't be disturbed by other diners. We will have short breaks throughout the evening, so attendees can restock their plates.
The restaurant is located at: 100 Live Oaks Blvd Casselberry, FL 32707….. near the intersection of 436 and 17-92.
In addition to the films and food, there may be other surprises, including trivia contests and free prizes. There is no charge for the movies, you just pay for your dinner. I hope you can make it!
