About us
Welcome to The Music Connection!
If you are looking for a structured, fun, and welcoming space to make music, connect with others, and decompress without any pressure, you’ve found the right place.
This is a peer-led, home-hosted gathering open to absolutely anyone who wants to experience the supportive and creative power of making music together.
What to Expect:
We keep our meetings structured so everyone feels safe, comfortable, and knows exactly what is coming next. At the start of every session, we read a quick opening script out loud to set our intentions and boundaries. During our 90 minutes together, we will:
- Play and sing songs from our community playlist.
- Participate in fun, creative music-related games and songwriting activities designed to stimulate our minds and lift our spirits.
- Set aside a dedicated, quiet time for anyone who wishes to share what's on their mind.
Do I Need to Be a Musician?
Absolutely not. You do not even have to know how to play an instrument or sing. You are invited to try out an instrument, bring your own if you prefer, sing, add your own harmonies, or just relax and enjoy. If you feel more like just listening, that is completely fine!
- Device Note: We will be using our devices to view lyric and chord sheets as well as during activities during the session. Please make sure to bring your phone or tablet fully charged.
- Calling All Musicians: If you already play an instrument, your skills are welcome and incredibly helpful! Experienced players help us anchor the rhythm and chords, providing a steady foundation that makes it easier and more comfortable for everyone else to sing, play, or try out a new instrument.
Families & Kids Welcome:
We have kids of our own and plenty of toys to share so children are absolutely welcome! Our core focus is enabling every single person in the room to feel relaxed, involved and safe enough to share. Because this requires the ability for the room to quiet down at times, please keep this in mind when it comes to younger ones. Parents are fully responsible for supervising their children throughout the session.
Contributions & Donations:
This group is completely free to attend! However, if you would like to chip in to help cover the ongoing costs of coffee, snacks, and materials, there will be an optional donation jar and digital QR codes on the kitchen counter. There is absolutely no obligation—your presence is the greatest contribution!
Our Core Guidelines:
To ensure our home remains a safe, judgment-free space for everyone, we live by a few simple rules:
- Musical Dynamics: We love playing with energy, but instruments will be played at a softer volume so we can hear the vocalists, and will always drop to a soft whisper whenever someone is speaking so every single voice can be clearly heard.
- Optional Sharing: Time is always provided to share what moves you, but sharing is an invitation, never a requirement. No one has to speak if they don’t want to.
- Support, Not Judgment: We are here to witness and support each other—not to offer unsolicited advice, critiques, or fixes.
Come exactly as you are, meet some wonderful people, and let’s make some music!
