Raspberry Mountain Loop (Monument) ~ 5.25 mi

Details
We're going to do this fantastic loop up in Monument. The trail is mostly wooded with some open areas, and a good view of Palmer Lake.
Starting from the dirt road parking lot, we will head west on the stem leading to the loop, which we will do clockwise. The first 1.5 miles is a real huff, climbing 1200 ft in elevation. This section is steep and has switchbacks with loose scree until you get to the top. Consistently steep.
Once we reach the spur trail to Mount Herman, we will continue on our loop (we aren't doing Mount Herman on this hike). Here it is mostly rolling and a much easier hike along the ridge.
Once we reach the summit spur, we will stop here and take in the peekaboo views and have a snack. We will continue on our loop, which pops out to an overlook of Palmer Lake. from here we will scurry down a ways on the trail and then make a right to complete the eastern part of the loop, which includes some pretty great rock formations. Then we meet back up with our spur trail to the lot.
Total elevation gain is ~1500 ft. Dogs allowed on leash.
Lunch in Monument post-hike is always an option 😊.
