About us
Welcome to the Oxford Social Circle π₯³
We're a group focused on bringing people together in Oxford. We primarily host Saturday afternoon events most weeks throughout the year, with the Meet & Greet Social and Social Walk & Drinks being our main recurring events.
Who's it for? π€·ββοΈ
Anyone looking to make friends in Oxford is welcome! Whether you're new to the city or just looking to expand your social circle, you'll find a warm welcome here.
What can you expect from us? π€
We're here to connect and make friends just like you. We often organise main events and activities on a weekly basis. Any additional activities will be organised in the group OSC+, a group that is limited to regular and reliable attendees only.
What do we expect from you? π€
To ensure our events remain enjoyable and well-organised for everyone, we ask that all members treat one another with mutual respect and kindness. Our weekly gatherings are vibrant and diverse, typically hosting between 20 and 40 attendees from all walks of life. Additionally, to help us manage our events effectively, we rely on you to keep your RSVP status up to date.
What's the goal? πͺπ»
Our goal is to help you meet like-minded people and build your own social network. The Oxford Social Circle and OSC+ are your platforms to do this. We encourage regular members to take the initiative and help contribute to organising the events in this group too!
How much does it cost? π°
All events in the Oxford Social Circle are free to attend. However, running the group does have annual costs, so we appreciate voluntary donations to cover these expenses. It's entirely optional, but your contribution helps keep the group running smoothly. These will be collected annually.
Can I join the WhatsApp group? π³
Members are welcome to join the WhatsApp community, providing they have attended at least one event in this group. A link to this will be shared in the comments at the end of each event.Β Any groups in the community are limited to regular attendees.
How can I be approved to join OSC+? π
To join OSC+, you must be an active member who is regularly involved in the Oxford Social Circle. Because some of our events will require upfront deposits or ticket bookings, we look for reliable members who are committed to keeping their attendance status up to date. By joining, you also agree to take full responsibility for any financial costs incurred if you need to withdraw at the last minute, ensuring the group isn't left out of pocket.
Group Rules π
These are the policies in place for the group:
1) Be respectful of others ππΌ
You'll encounter diverse individuals, some of whom you may not connect with immediately. Instead of arguing, acknowledge your differences. Refrain from harassing members, whether in person or on social media, outside of events.
2) Appreciate what the organisers do β€οΈ
Please remember we are not a business and that all the organisers in the group are hosting events on a voluntary basis. The events we host are for ourselves to enjoy as much as you do.
3) Have a valid photo of yourself in your profile π€³πΎ
There have been multiple occasions where members have received inappropriate messages, all from members without photos. To help prevent this from happening, we ask all members to provide a photo of themselves in their profile at all times.
4) Update your attending status correctly β
Not knowing the correct number of attendees can negatively impact the event. Excessive absences and/or gatecrashing events, without valid reasons, will lead to removal from the group.
5) Do not take control of events hosted π€
The organisers already have a plan for the event they are hosting. To prevent any difficulties, respect what the organisers have set up for you. Members are welcome to organise additional activities once the event is over.
6) Do not advertise your own activities in the group without permission π
π»
Whilst we are happy to see additional events, they must apply to the group's structure. If you want to advertise any of your events, contact Kevin.

Here are the common questions asked relating to this event:I'm new and feel anxious. Is this group not right for me? π¨
Attending for the first time is pushing you out of your comfort zone, so it is normal to feel anxious on your first occasion. We always have a mixture of new and old faces. Regulars are very welcoming and it takes only 2-4 events for most members to feel settled in. Our advice is to give it a shot and reflect afterwards if the event is right for you.How will I find you? π§
Once the organiser arrives, they will share in the comments roughly where they are located, with a description of what they are wearing.Where will I be able to park? π
Whilst it's not impossible to find parking in Oxford, the limited availability, as well as costs, can make parking incredibly challenging. Therefore, we encourage members to use the most convenient public transport available. Can I bring additional people with me? π©π»βπ€βπ¨π½
Yes you can, providing they are aged 18 or over. You are also responsible for any potential problematic behaviours from guests you bring with you. Please put them as +1 when you check-in so we can try and find us enough space. What is Rick's Diner? π€¨
Rick's Diner on Cowley Road is a family-run restaurant in Oxford, celebrated for its American-style comfort food with a menu that also includes vegetarian, vegan, and halal options. It is a popular spot known for its friendly, welcoming atmosphere and is well-regarded for both quick bites and relaxing meals with family and friends. Whilst members won't have a problem with this, it's unfortunately not always the same with the staff. Therefore, you're welcome to bring your own food, but will be doing so at your own risk.Do I have to buy food? π¨
With the prime focus of the event being to socialise, this is completely optional. What games will be available to play? β οΈ
The following games will be available to play:
Jenga π§±
Uno π
Dominos π²
Bananagram πWill we be doing anything after the event? π»
This will be decided on the day. If anything does happen, it will likely be that we find a nearby pub.Is this a dating event? π©ββ€οΈβπ¨
Whilst we recognise and accept that relationships do form in social settings, we ask members to be mindful that this is not an event specifically for dating. Therefore, if your only reason for attending is to find your soulmate, this event will not be the right event for you.I think I've found you, but I'm too scared to approach! Can I have the organisers contact number? π³
As we are not a business, organisers will not be making their personal numbers public. However, we will post in the comments a rough description of where we are located, as well as a description of what the organiser is wearing. The rest is about you stepping out of your comfort zone and approaching!Group Rules π
