Hey everyone! It's officially festival season! Ok so your first thought was probably, wasn't St. Joseph's Day back in March? You would be correct lol The Federal Hill Commerce Association is holding their yearly festival later in the year so we can enjoy the late Spring weather while we explore the Hill. The festival is being held all weekend, so let's get together on Saturday for what is likely to be the best day.

If you've never been to a festival on Federal Hill, they're always a great time. The Feast of St. Joseph is not only a religious holiday, but a celebration of Italian heritage. Think of it as the Italian version of St. Patrick's Day...except minus the encouragement of binge drinking and that you wear red instead of green. Of course wearing red isn't required, you're not at risk of anyone pinching you, if that's even still a thing for St. Patrick's Day these days.

Sections of the Hill will be closed to traffic to allow us to walk around the main section of Atwells Ave freely. There will be multiple stages featuring musical arts throughout the day. Many restaurants will have outdoor space to sit and eat, and likely so will some of the bars up and down the street. There's also likely going to be plenty of vendors lining the road selling everything from food, art, and everything in between. Many Hill festivals also have a small carnival, but we didn't see anything listed so maybe it won't be at this event. Maybe have some cash for ride tickets just incase.

Let's meet at Rock & Rye to start the night. It's a rock themed dive bar that can make all sorts of cocktails and have a solid beer selection. They also have cereal themed shots and make a mean adult Capri Sun. Yeah, it's not very Italian we admit, but it may be a little less busy and easier to find each other. Depending on how many people we have, we may use Rock & Rye as our home base. That way people can explore together in smaller groups if they'd like and then find us again. It's worked well in the past. We'll add details in the comments on the day. Rock & Rye often has out door seating and a decent amount of indoor space for the Hill. Sometimes they even have an outdoor bar for festivals.

The festival runs until 12am, but the street may be closed until later in the night. We'll see how the group is feeling as the event goes on. We won't be too far from downtown if people want to mix things up later in the night.

FYI there's plenty of side streets, but parking may be difficult so please budget a little extra time to find spot. If we decide not to use Rock & Rye as our home base throughout the night, we'll definitely stick around for about forty-five minutes to give people plenty of time to find us.

Please check out the link before for details, and reach out to the hosts if you have any questions. See you all then!
