Wickenden Street Makers Market!!
Details
Hey everyone! Spring is finally here so that means we're back to enjoying outdoor markets and block parties! This one is a blend of both, so let's hope for some good weather and support some local businesses at the same time.
TLDR: Outdoor market with artists, misc. vendors, food trucks, and live music on Wickenden St. Check comments on the day for exact start location. Event is weather sensitive. Hosts will try to have a backup plan in the event of poor weather and will update comments. Please check post prior to leaving. We are unsure of alcohol being served at the market, it has in the past. Secondary stop after market possible but not guaranteed.
The Makers Market on Wickenden Street has been going on for years, and when we've done it in the past it's always been a hit. An entire block of Wickenden Street will be shut down to car traffic to allow for outdoor vendors and artists, food trucks, and live music to spill out into the road. Currently there isn't a list of vendors, food trucks, or bands who will be performing but we'll post a the link below incase you want to check back for more information. Without a doubt, there will be plenty of food options available both from food trucks and there's a bunch of restaurants already on Wickenden.
This event is pretty laid back. Live music is never distractingly loud, so it shouldn't be hard to talk as we walk around the market checking out the vendors. The only thing that could hamper the day is the weather, and we'll try to have a backup plan if luck isn't on our side. In the event of any changes we'll add it in the comments so hopefully you get a notification. Please make sure to check the post leading up to the event.
We're not sure on alcohol being served. In the past we believe there was some vendors selling drinks, but it's been awhile. Plus the city has been more strict on outdoor drinking even at events in recent years. Though block parties tend to get a little more wiggle room if they have the event limits clearly marked. The market ends at 5pm. Our plan is stick around the market until pretty close to the end depending on how the group is feeling. If the hosts are up for it on the day, we could move to a nearby bar if people want. We'll decide on the day.
This market is much smaller in scope than events like PVD Fest or a Federal Hill festival, so it should be pretty easy to find each other throughout the event. The hosts will select a good spot to gather everyone at the start. We'll post the details right at the start of the event in the comments. We likely won't have a "home base" like we try to do for larger outdoor events, but the hosts will make use of comments to regroup everyone if needed (likely at the end when we may consider moving). People tend to kind of hang in one spot anyway when they're not actually looking at vendors or getting food.
Parking may be a little bit of a pain if the event is popular. If it is, the other side of the pedestrian bridge may be better than circling the neighborhood. We'll hang around our starting location for awhile if you're a little late but we recommend budgeting a little extra time.
Please reach out to the host(s) if you have any questions or leave a comment. Hope to see you all there!
