Rhode Island Pride (Daytime Festival)

Hey everyone! Happy Pride Month! If you've been in the meetup for awhile you know we never miss Rhode Island Pride. It's easily the biggest day of the year in Providence, far eclipsing the other fantastic festivals in the city we also love. Let's get together to enjoy the daytime festivities that RI Pride has to offer.

TLDR: Daytime festival for RI Pride featuring vendors, food, live entertainment, and alcoholic drinks (likely need to be consumed in designated area). Meet at Hot Club for drink before walking over to festival. Will stay at Hot Club for 45 min. Parking likely to be difficult. Finding the group after leaving starting location may be difficult but hosts will assist as best to their ability. This event is for daytime festival only. See disclaimer at bottom of post.

In past years we typically hosted two Meetup events on RI Pride day, one for the day time events and a second for the parade/nightlife after. This year, our plan is to focus on the daytime events. The nighttime crowds have just grown too large to easily host a large meetup group. Last year the hosts even lost cell reception due to the towers being overwhelmed and couldn't post updates lol Plus the lines to get into some of the free block parties were pretty extreme. Eddie definitely gained a few stress induced gray hairs in his beard from last year haha But hey it's a good thing RI Pride has become such a huge event!

If we have any change of plans on the nighttime stuff, we'll be sure to let people know. We definitely recommend the night time festivities if you don't mind the chaos. It's something you have to experience at least once.

The daytime festival may be a little more tame than the nighttime shenanigans, but it's still a blast. The District Park area downtown will be full of vendors selling pretty much everything. There will certainly be food trucks/food vendors on site. The mainstage will feature a variety of entertainment for us to enjoy including plenty of music and likely drag performances. There will also be a 21+ tent selling alcoholic drinks, likely you'll be stuck in the tent grounds while you drink.

It will be tough to find each other in the actual festival grounds, so let's meet at Hot Club. It's just across the Pedestrian Bridge and is one of the better outdoor bars in the city. We'll stick around Hot Club for 45 minutes or so before walking over together. Parking will likely be a challenge. We are starting on the earlier side with the festival kicking off at 11:30, but even so it will likely be jammed downtown. Ride shares may be your best bet, though they can be pricey on a date so busy. If you miss us at Hot Club the hosts will do our best to help you find the group, but it may be difficult.

We'll stick around the festival for awhile. We are near downtown so if people want to check out a nearby bar that may be possible. It will depend on the size of our group since bars can be busy.

I know we're just doing the daytime stuff so it will likely be more tame than the nighttime festivities but just to be safe. The less fun stuff lol
