Hey everyone! We haven't done much live music lately, so we thought this may be something different. Motif Magazine is hosting a qualifying round for their yearly Battle of the Bands at Track 15 this year, so let's give it a try. The performance will be outside in the plaza, so it shouldn't be too loud to talk. Plus there will be plenty of food and drink options considering it's at Track.

TLDR Notes: Outdoor music event featuring three artists competing for spot in the finals of Motif Magazine's Battle of Bands at this year's PVD fest. Performance starts at 5pm. Hosts will post location in comments. Usual Track 15 food and drink available. May want to bring something to sit on as we may be in the grass. Please keep in mind possibility of us moving to another location (may want to avoid a folding chair unless you plan to park nearby).

If you've never heard of Motif Magazine, it is a free local arts & entertainment / culture magazine produced out of Providence. You've likely seen some free to take copies tucked away in the corner at some of your favorite haunts in RI, especially downtown Providence or anywhere with a larger artist/student community. Eddie actually interned for them one summer back in college (which is more years ago than he care to admit lol) We're not sponsored or anything, but their events section is a good way to learn of new stuff going on in the area. Don't know if they still do these days, but in the past they also put out seasonal guides of things to do in addition to their usual events section. We use it sometimes for meetup, so highly recommend you check it out. Anyway, each year Motif hosts a variety of award contests ranging from bartending, tattoo artists, music, and more.

The Track 15 event is one of four qualifying rounds for the chance to perform for the title at this year's PVD Fest, so maybe we can come full circle and see the winner in a couple months. We're not sure how the contest actually works. Sometimes at events like this the crowd gets to vote,, but we're not sure how Motif does it. Also not sure if there's one winner per qualifier, or if they just go with the top bands with the most overall votes. We'll find out together lol

Worst case if the event is a bit of dud we can just hang out, eat some food, and head into downtown for awhile.

Check out the link(s) below for more info.

You may want to bring something to sit on since we may be in the grass. Lawn chairs are permitted, but just keep in mind we may go somewhere else either during or after the event. Track 15 does have a paid parking lot so you can have your car nearby. You can validate your parking with the purchase of something inside. It will still cost some money but it will discount the price.

The event is likely weather dependent (unless they just move it inside near the lounge). Please keep an eye on the event comments on the day to be safe. We'll likely just change it to a bar night if the weather looks iffy (maybe move the start time to a little later in the day).

Also please just be respectful of the bands and other people around us. Whether it be by talking to loud or saying negative things about a performance you may not like. Knowing events like this in the past, we'll likely be surrounded by friends of family of the artists who cart them in for guaranteed votes lol

Let's meet at 5pm when the event starts. We'll try to claim a spot and hold it while people get food and drinks. We'll let everyone know where we are in the comments. Eddie will also try to remember to wear a loud shirt so he sticks out more lol

Please reach out to the host(s) if you have any questions. See you then!
