Friday Night Game Night @ Freeplay!!

Hey everyone!! It's a bit since we had a Freeplay night, so let's kick off the weekend with some games and drinks! There's also live music out on the patio and the dance floor is always a blast later in the night.

TLDR Note: Arcade bar with many video games and iconic arcade games. Cover is $12.00 but includes unlimited games, live music on the patio, and upstairs dance floor. Hosts will post meeting location within the bar at the start of the event.

If you've been going out in Providence for any length of time, Freeplay likely needs little introduction. It easily one of the more exciting nightlife spots in the downtown area. They are one of the few bars we frequent with a cover, but that's because we think the $12 door charge is well worth the money. The bottom floor of the venue offers wall to wall arcade and video games that are free to play all night. They offer a ton of retro arcade cabinets, more modern video games, air hockey, skeeball, pinball, dancing games, and much more.

In addition to the arcade, Freeplay also sports one of the most fun dance floors in the city. Don't worry it's not your usual stuffy club vibe. Many of us are long past our clubbing days (Eddie especially lol). The bar's upstairs dance floor attracts a far more fun crowd who are not afraid to goof around and just let loose. Don't be shocked if you see a conga line at some point. The DJs typically play top hits from the 60s-modern era.

To make the cover charge an even better value, Freeplay also sports live music in their outdoor patio every friday starting at 8:30 during the summer. The band will likely be doing covers of top songs over the past few decades. Since it's outside it is easy to get away from chaos if you need a break from the live music to go back and enjoy some games or talk without the noise. Though it also means that part of the night is weather dependent.

Drinks wise Freeplay has you covered, there's easily something for everyone. Freeplay sports multiple bars, one downstairs and another upstairs by the dance floor. They also sometimes out an outdoor bar in the patio for their bigger nights. Even with a big crowd, it's usually not hard to get a drink. The have their own signature cocktail menu inspired by famous video games, but word of warning they are sugar bombs (and a hangover waiting to happen) lol Especially since they go down so easy. Eddie is speaking from experience lol They can make other standard drinks like gin & tonics or rum and cokes etc., but this isn't the spot where you get anything too fancy. They have a large selection of canned drinks and beer on tap.

We'll start the night a little bit before the bands take the stage. We'll likely set up near the downstairs bar or one of the air hockey tables if we're lucky to get one early. We'll post our location in the comments. Freeplay is big but it's not massive, so even if we move around throughout the night it shouldn't be tough to regroup.
