Bear Creek Lake Park Low Intermediate
Details
Apologies for the short notice! I had planned to do this ride on Thursday, April 3rd, but the weather forecast doesn't look so good. So Monday the 30th it is.
Let's start the season with an easy one, at least technically. Aerobically, everyone will get a good workout. Low intermediates and fit, adventurous beginners can do this ride. Class 1 e-bikes are welcome.
For the workout, there are two good HIIT interval climbs, two short punchies, and a longer, more moderate climb up Mt Carbon. As for scenery, there are nice views of the reservoir as well as trails beside Bear Creek. The real surprise is the new Prairie Plunge Blue trail, a short, flowy rollercoaster whose steep down-and-ups would not be out of place at the Winter Park Trestle Bike Park; see the pic below.
We'll do about 14 miles and 1000 feet in a little under two hours in motion. As always, this will be a no-drop ride, unless some faster riders drop the rest of us. We'll start at the informal PnR on Rooney Road across from the Phillips 66 station. If there is interest, we could go for lunch afterwards, maybe The Cow in Morrison? If not, I'll be bringing a PBJ for a quick lunch stop at the top of Mount Carbon. Come see, and maybe you'll learn some new things about BCLP. My cell is 303-619-7486.
