Last June, we hiked the lower section of the East Fork Box Canyon. This time we will hike the (different) upper section, a flat 1/ 1/2 miles to the river from the picnic area, descend into the canyon and then 1/4 mile in the creek to the double, successive falls. Total of 3 1/2 miles (r.t.). The falls section is almost identical to last June's hike. You will get wet. Bring hat, sun screen, water, snacks & water shoes. There are pools at the base of falls; one really deep. Hike is moderate because of fairly steep return up the canyon and rocky bottom of creek. Snowpak is gone so no danger of creek being too high. No Dogs.

As a bonus we could easily stop at Guadalupe triple falls on the way back. Only a 1/4 mile hike to the falls (with deep pool).

We will meet at around 7:45AM at the Rio Rancho Home Depot and we will leave by 8AM. We will carpool because parking is limited in Jemez.

Afterwards we will go to Turtle Mountain brewery for a well deserved late lunch or early dinner for those that wish to attend.
