Wheeler Peak (top of New Mexico)

Details
This willl be a tougher hike than most, but I have been talking with some in the group about going to Wheeler Peak, the highest peak in New Mexico. This will be about 9 miles including the 8.2 mile out and back in the All Trails below and a small side hike to Williams Lake and a falls behind it. Total elevation change is 3000 feet and the top is a steep scree slope above timberline. This is a beautiful area and will have amazinging views at the top. While I have done this hike, it was back in 1987, so this will be exploratory for me and anyone joining who has done this is appreciated.
To minimize the risk of monsoon thunderstorms, we are going to leave at 8 from the parking lot listed in the All Trails, especially since we will be taking a pace that works for all to stay as a group. There are pit toilets at the parking lot. This is the Google Maps link: https://maps.app.goo.gl/rKNmfnBus6PLhpZt5?g_st=com.google.maps.preview.copy
Debbie and I will be staying in the ski valley the night before and after and are open to connecting for meals or a different hike in the area on Sunday. Please bring a hat, sunscreen, plenty of water and food for snacks and lunch, and rain gear. Poles would be useful. Due to the scree slope to the top, I do not view this is a good hike for dogs.
