This hike is still going to take place even with the Gov't shutdown. The Visitor Center is closed, and it probably includes the restrooms as well, so don't count on those being open for use.
If the entrance Gate is closed, park in the pull off just where you turn in from 2nd St. where the informational signs are.
If need be, we will park along the side of 2nd street, and proceed from there.

Hi Everyone, time for the monthly visit to the Valle de Oro NWR! I have scheduled this every month on a Sunday morning. We will walk at an easy pace for about 4.0-4.5 miles total. We do go into the bosque and walk to the river, be aware that this portion is not a maintained trail.

NOTE: If the entrance gate happens to be closed, just parallel park in the pull off where the informational signs are.

Great For first timers.

It's going to be very warm, so drink lots of water.

Please note start time of 0745.

This is a great choice for new hikers; there are broad roads to walk on allowing plenty of opportunity to visit with each other and admire nature. We will take a group picture somewhere along the way.

Pets are allowed on refuge trails. Please keep all pets on a 6 foot non-retractable leash and on designated trails at all times.

See the Link below for current information from the refuge.
