Stargazing Night at White Mesa
Details
Hey everyone! On Thursday, November 20, we’ll be heading out to the White Mesa area for a relaxing stargazing night under the New Mexico sky. We won’t be hiking this time, just parking, setting up chairs, and enjoying the incredible views.
We’ll meet at the Rio Rancho Home Depot at 6:00 PM and carpool up to the site together. It’s about an hour drive, so we’ll arrive around 7:00 PM, right in time for the dark skies.
This will be a new moon night, which means a moonless sky and some of the best stargazing conditions of the year.
Bring a chair, blanket, and maybe a thermos of hot cocoa or some snacks to stay warm and cozy. It will be a cool night, but the scenery and the quiet of the desert will make it worth it.
A quick note: nighttime temps in the White Mesa area can drop into the low 40s, so layer up with a warm jacket, hat, and gloves. A blanket or extra layer will make it even more comfortable while sitting out under the stars.
If the weather drops or turns too cold, we will reschedule for a more comfortable night.
We’ll stay for about an hour or two to take in the sights before heading back.
Let’s make it a peaceful, beautiful evening under the stars together.
