Cerrillos Hills State Park
Details
Note: This is the first day after we go off daylight savings, so remember to fall back an hour.
This was my very first hike with Making Strides. We have not done this one in a while, so it seems like it is time to revisit Cerrillos Hills. It is a state park on the Turquoise Trail with some nice views and some history around the old abandoned mines. We will do a 4.4 mile loop with about 660 feet of elevation change. We will meet at the dirt parking lot just before the Cedar Crest Post Office to Carpool. There is a fee to park. There is no shade so please bring a hat, sunscreen, plenty of water, and a snack or lunch. For those interested, we can stop for lunch at the Mine Shaft Tavern in Madrid after the hike (this is optional).
