Join us for a special night hike across the three volcanoes at Petroglyph National Monument. This 3-mile loop trail offers some of the best views of Albuquerque, especially at night when the city lights glow against the desert sky. If the weather is clear, we’ll also be able to see plenty of stars and maybe even catch a glimpse of the Sandias lit by moonlight.

We’ll park along the outside gate and walk up to the trail. The route is mostly easy, with a few rocky sections and gentle inclines. There are also some rocky declines, so we’ll take our time and be careful as we walk. It’s a peaceful area where you can really take in the quiet of the desert at night.

Please note:

Parking is limited, so we’ll carpool from the Walmart before heading to the trailhead.

Wear hiking boots, as parts of the trail can be uneven.

Bring a flashlight or headlamp, since we’ll be hiking after dark.

The weather will be cooler in the evening, so dress in layers or bundle up.

This is a great opportunity to experience the volcanoes in a whole new way. Come enjoy the calm of the night, the fresh air, and the incredible views.
