Deadman Peak - CDT
Details
We haven’t done this one in a couple of years, so it feels like the right time to bring it back. I went out there today to check things out and while the usual parking area is currently closed, access is still manageable and getting to the trailhead is not an issue.
We’ll keep this hike at about 6 miles total, roughly 3 miles in and 3 miles back, with around 310 feet of elevation gain. It’s a solid distance that lets us enjoy the area without committing to the full route.
This trail is part of the Continental Divide, which makes it a pretty special stretch to be on. It is fairly exposed with not much shade, so please plan ahead. Bring plenty of water and some snacks to keep your energy up.
Hiking boots are needed due to the terrain, and hiking sticks are recommended for added stability. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a leash at all times.
This hike is about getting back out there, revisiting a trail we haven’t done in a while, and enjoying a good day on the trail together. Looking forward to seeing everyone and sharing the miles.
This will be a carpool event.
See you on the trail.
