Details

This trail is listed as a 12.9-mile loop with very little elevation gain, but we are not doing the full route. We’ll keep it simple and do about 2 miles in and 2 miles back, which should put us out there for roughly an hour to an hour and a half.

The preserve follows the Rio Grande. Some sections can be sandy, and the terrain is mostly flat.

There are three different trail options once we get there. We’ll take a look and choose whichever one feels easiest for the group that evening.
The parking lot is open at night, so we should be good there.

Important reminders:

Dress in layers since it will cool off in the evening

Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash

Bring plenty of water

Headlamps or flashlights are definitely needed
