5th Annual 4th of July Trail- Leaves Color Change
Details
So before I give a description of this event let me preface things by saying that I am making it for this day because this is when the leaves are projected to be changing color. Dependent on that, the day may change. Also depending on how cold it is the time may change as well. I always prefer to get there early to avoid the crowds. Also this is a carpool event because parking is limited.
This hike is rated moderate because it is 5 miles and has an almostst 900ft elevation gain. Getting there, there are a lot of dirt roads so that is something to consider. I will open it up to a bigger group because we will be carpooling. We will meet at the Walmart I. Eubanks and I-40. If you are in the Tijeras you can meet us there or one of us can pick you up.
We tried something last year that i think worked well. We will separate the carpools into a fast hikers group and a more leisurely group. We will start together but that faster hikers can go with having to wait for thise of us that need to stop more. This will be late October so dress in layers and as always bring plenty of water. It will take us a couple hours to complete but the views will be worth it.
And trust me, as we are leaving you will see why it is smart to get there as early as possiblele
