Jemez East River Slot Canyon

Location: Jemez Mountains | Distance: Approx. 2 - 3 miles (not full loop)
Rated: Moderate | Special Features: Streams, waterfall, and optional swim spot!

This hike has become a group favorite, so we’re scheduling it again—with future dates also planned for July, August and September if warm.

For this one, please wear shoes you don’t mind getting wet. We’ll be crossing streams, and the boxed canyon features a beautiful waterfall and even an area to swim. Last year, some sections of water were thigh-deep, so come prepared.

Trail Details:
• We will not be doing the full 4.6-mile loop.
• We’ll park at the designated parking area and then walk half a mile along the road to access the trail.

Meet-Up Info:
• Time: Meet at 7:45 AM at the Rio Rancho Home Depot
• Departure: 8:00 AM sharp
• Carpooling is encouraged, as parking is limited in Jemez.

What to Bring:
• Plenty of water
• Snacks
• Towel (optional, if you plan to swim)
• Pet owners: Some small areas allow pets off-leash—please keep them under control at all times.
