1.5 mile out and back with 400' elev gain. Walking time is 1 hour plus. The hike is rated as moderate.

Dogs on leashes are welcome. Bring your hat, sun screen, bug spray (trust me) and plenty of water. It will be warm outside. Hike poles are recommended.

Highlights include great views of ABQ, the west mesa and beyond. To avoid some rather large boulders located near the end of the trail, we will switch over to the Tramway Trail for a portion of the hike. However, we will return to the La Cueva trail head. No worries, we will get our steps in,

Parking: Without a Federal park pass (America the Beautiful, etc) there is a $5 parking fee, Parking near the trail head is limited. Therefore, we will all meet at the larger parking lot located on forest service road 333, just east of Tramway Blvd. We will then car pool from this parking lot to the sign in area and trail head. If you have a federal pass, please bring it.

We want to avoid the heat as much as possible. Please be at the parking lot on FS333, east of Tramway Blvd at 0730.

After the hike, everyone is welcome to meet at Homestead Cafe (located at the base of the aerial tram). The address is 40 Tramway Road.
