Gutierrez - Milne Open Space Loop - New Trail

For this event we'll be exploring the Gutierrez-Milne Open Space Loop, a 4.5-mile moderate hike with about 708 feet of elevation gain. Plan on spending around 2 to 3 hours on the trail.

This hike takes us to the other side of Cedar Crest and will be a new trail for Making Strides. The route winds through the hills and forest of Gutierrez Canyon, with beautiful scenery and several great viewpoints along the way. I'm looking forward to checking out a place that many of us haven't explored before.

This will be a carpool event. The trailhead has one of the smallest parking lots we've come across, so we'll do our best to minimize the number of vehicles and make sure everyone has a place to park. If you're willing to drive or ride with others, it will help out a lot.

As always, bring plenty of water, wear hiking boots or sturdy trail shoes, and dress for the weather.
