Mystery Adventure #2 Halloween Edition- Read Entire Post
Details
You trusted me once. Ready to do it again?
Mystery Adventure #1 was a success, but I learned something along the way: some of you are much better detectives than I gave you credit for. A few people had Pecos figured out before we even got there.
So I'm making Mystery Adventure #2 a little harder.
Where are we going? Who knows. We may walk the Ring of Fire. We might climb Mount Everest. We may spend the afternoon searching for Amelia Earhart. At this point, you shouldn't ruling anything out.
I'll still give you everything you need to decide whether this adventure is right for you. As we get closer, I'll sporadically release more details and clues.
But I'm definitely not making this easy.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
š Saturday, October 31
š This is a full-day road trip. We will be spending a significant amount of time in the car, both getting to our adventure and throughout the day. We'll be traveling considerably farther than we did for Mystery Adventure #1, so come prepared for a road trip. Expect an early departure and a late return to Albuquerque.
So if your chinchilla is getting their braces tightened at 4 PM, this may not be the adventure for you.
š„¾ Hiking: Expect approximately 2.2 miles of hiking during the adventure.
ā°ļø Elevation Gain: Approximately 250 feet.
šØ Difficulty: Moderate.
š„¾ Terrain: Expect a combination of dirt, sand, slickrock, rocky and uneven terrain. There will be some steady climbing, but this is not a high-elevation-gain hike.
š Views: Let's just say I'm choosing this adventure for a reason. The views should be worth the drive.
š“ Food: We're going to be gone all day, so bring money for both lunch and dinner, along with any snacks or drinks you want for the road.
š Bring: Plenty of water, snacks, sunscreen, sunglasses, comfortable hiking shoes and layers. Remember, we'll be away from Albuquerque for most of the day.
š Transportation: Carpooling will be available and I'll help coordinate it as we get closer. Because this is a longer road trip, you're also completely welcome to drive yourself if you'd prefer.
And I'm going to say something I normally don't: this will probably be the one time I highly encourage you to help your driver with gas money. We're going to put some miles on these cars. It doesn't have to be anything crazy, but if you're riding with someone, please help them out if you're able.
š Dogs: No dogs on this Mystery Adventure.
And just like last time, this Mystery Adventure may include more than one site, activity or location. There might be a few surprises along the way.
That's all you're getting for now.
NOW FOR THE FUN PART...
After Mystery Adventure #1, I already know some of you are going to try to figure this one out.
So go ahead and guess.
If you think you know where we're going, drop your guess in the comments. But there's one rule:
Don't explain how you got there.
No evidence. No detective boards. No trying to convince everyone else that you've cracked the case.
And don't bother asking me if you're right because I will neither confirm nor deny any guesses.
I'll release clues sporadically as we get closer. Some will help. Some might make you question your original guess.
About a week before the adventure, I'll give you one of the biggest clues:
I'll tell you which direction we're heading.
Until then, let's see how many different places you guys come up with.
Mystery Adventure #2 is officially on.
See you on the trails... wherever they may be.
