What we’re about
A social group for single people aged 40+ who want to meet and socialise with other singles in Cornwall. Our aim is safe socialising as a group.
We are two long time friends and both have our own interests but given recent times we have realised we would like to make new friends and enjoy new social events. As single people, it is increasingly difficult to meet new people. So here we are. Our plan is to suggest an average of two events per month. We are also conscious that money is currently tight, so are going to try and suggest low cost events. Obviously, if you decide to attend, for example a quiz night and wish to have food too, then that is your decision, but if you just want to enjoy the evening with only a drink, then that's good too. We do not want anyone to feel awkward or under any pressure with regards to money.
There is a cost of £1.00 per event to cover the Meetup platform costs (approx. £25.00 per month to run the group on the app), and we'll have an Eyeore mug on the table at each event and we would kindly ask you to pop your £1.00 inside. For new people coming to join us, just look for the Eyeore mug to know who we are!!
We are all approachable so please do suggest events. We are looking locally to mid Cornwall initially, but are not adverse to spreading our wings within Cornwall.
We have a Code of Conduct for the group which we would ask you to adhere to:
1. Respect other attendees within the group. We are here to all have a fun social time.
2. Be kind and polite to everyone within the group. No harrassement will be acceptable or tolerated.
4. Do not encroach on individuals space. We are a singles social group and not a dating group so please do not hassle individuals within the group and respect each person's boundaries. Please also respect people's privacy.
5. No hate speech will be acceptable. Everyone is allowed to express their own opinions, etc. No bullying within the group is acceptable and if this is found to occur the individual(s) responsible will be asked to leave.
6. This group is NOT for pick up or seduction techniques, casual hook ups or anything suchlike. We welcome genuine singles looking to socialise as a group and anyone not meeting that description or displaying questionable behaviour or motivation will be removed.
